C.D Peacock, Chicago’s first jewelry retailer

celebrated its 175th anniversary with the grand opening of a new ROlex Salon at the Westfield Old Orchard location November 13. On hand for this event were ROLEX Watch USA President and CEO Stewart Wicht, C.D Peacock owner Seymour Holtzman, Village of Skokie mayor George Van Dusen. With savory hors d’oeuvres by Phil Stefani events and Absolut Vodka libations guests took in the new shop within a shop-Rolex Salon and the broad selection of Rolex timepieces presented in custom-made display units of European plane wood.

Shop for a Cause at Saks fifth Avenue on the Magnificent Mile

featured Same Sky Jewelry. A trade-not-aid initiative that employs African women as artisans. Same Sky Jewelry founder Francine LeFrak, did not let the wrath of hurricane Sandy(she drove to Philadelphia then took a flight out to Chicago) stop her from attending and shedding light on this initiative that donates 100% of all net-proceeds from the sale of Same Sky’s jewelry to employing more women artisans and expanding into other regions. In attendance with Ms. LeFrak  and event co-hosts Pat Harris, Catharine Hamilton, Janelle Schroeder and Susan Bogart were Ms. Illinois USA Ashley Hooks, Sugar Rautbord, Maria Smithburg and many more.

The Tie Bar, partnered with Jesse Tyler Ferguson,

Emmy Award® nominated actor, and his partner Justin Mikita for an exclusive collection of limited edition bow ties. To celebrate the collaboration, where 100% of the proceeds from the Jesse Tyler Ferguson for TheTieBar.com collection will benefit Tie the Knot, an organization founded by Ferguson and Mikita to raise awareness and advocate on behalf of marriage equality in the United States through art, fashion and entertainment; they threw a splashy party out in L.A. Guests in attendance include some of his “Modern Family” castmastes and friends such as Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Lance Bass, Zachary Quinto, Kate Walsh, Kristin Chenoweth and Sarah Paulson. This would make a great holiday gift.

Gillette’s Movember tour

rolled into America’s Most Mustache-Friendly City*-Chicago. In support of the fight against prostate cancer and the Mo movement, they offered complimentary curbside fine tuning and styling services with Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler and with help from local Mo’ expert Jon Brija of State St. Barbers.
Gents can check out Gillette’s Facebook Page and see the Library of Mo’ Styles for inspiration, then document their growth all month by uploading photos to the time lapse Mo’ Growth Facebook app. For every photo uploaded in the U.S., Gillette will donate $1 (up to $50,000) to Movember.
