It seems that some of Chicago’s legendary and long standing institutions are closing up left and right and we can add South Loop’s Vogue Fabrics (623 W Roosevelt Rd) to that list. The family owned, small chain of fabric store will be shuttering their Roosevelt Rd. location after 30+ years in business. We hear it’s due to lease issue. Wonder if the presence of new construction shops popping up around the area, landlord may have gotten greedy or perhaps competition with nearby Fishman Fabrics; whatever the reason, don’t fret, they will still run their Evanston location.
The silver lining from store closings are the great bargains and they started the sale November 8 and will go until Nov. 16, so if you’ve been dying to try your hand at DIY or decided to launch that clothing line and need materials, you may be able to snag some fabric and materials for the low low.
