Tome Tuesday: Vogue The Covers Through The Years
Last week while reading a post on ChiCityFashion, I wondered how awesome it would be to have a book full of the covers of VOGUE of past years and guess what? They have one, how did I miss this?! While in Ithaca over the weekend, saw a copy at a bookstore and had to have it. It could have been the September issue high or the vintage covers whatever it was, that tome was meant to be owned.
Vogue The Covers is a comprehensive book of all the Vogue magazine covers through the years starting with their first cover in December 1892. Written by Dodie Kazanjian foreward by Hamish Bowles and it features the works of the major photographers-artists really, such as—Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts, Steven Meisel, Annie Leibovitz, and Mario Testino. The book is stunning.
A cover of Brooke Shields who made the bushy brow a thing long before Cara D, Cindy Crawford who was discovered and rose to supermodel fame while hailing from Chicago. Goldie Hawn, Lauren Hutton, Elaine Erwin who was a known model before being John Mellencamp’s wife(now ex), supermodels Amber Valetta, Shalom Harlow, and of course Naomi Campbell who’s had 7 Vogue covers.
This is a great book for any vogue mag/fashion lover and a great coffee table accessory.
Which is your favorite Vogue cover of all time?
