The scoop: ABC7 Chicago’s Ron Magers emceed The National Latino Education Institute 43rd annual Gala welcoming more than 500 guests and a keynote speech from newly elected Chicago City Treasurer Kurt Summers. Joining NLEI Executive Director Elba Aranda-Suh and founder Mary Gonzalez Koenig were Francisco Menchaca, Anthony Tedeschi, Cesar Dovalina Jr and many more.

The scoop:  Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel’s “Happiest Hour” concert,  featuring Robin Thicke and Natalie Rose kicked off the unveiling of the hotel’s $22 million renovation that features high-low design.

The scoop: The Women’s Board of the Adler Planetarium hosted its annual Women in Space Science Award Celebration honoring U.S. Navy Captain and NASA Astronaut Sunita L. Williams for her work and impact to the field of science. 400 guests in attendance viewed the presentation of a commemorative gift to Women’s Board founder, Linda Celesia, by Dr. W. Michael Hawes of Lockheed Martin.

The scoop:The Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation welcomed more than 200 friends and supporters as Mamie Walton, long-time supporter of the Foundation, was presented with the Shining Star Award-the Foundation’s highest honor-for her commitment to the work of the organization. A distinguished panel of experts in the field of Bipolar Disorder from Harvard University, Northwestern University, Stanford University and University of Pittsburgh presented their latest findings and treatment plans for early-onset Bipolar Disorder and answered questions for those attending.

The scoop:  The Woman’s Board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago raised $1.4 million in support of local youth at their largest annual fundraiser attended by 400 of Chicago’s community leaders, generating critical support for programs offered to more than 1,800 youth each day at 21 Boys & Girls Club locations throughout Chicago. a live auction featuring luxury dinners and getaways, including a seven night trip to Paris, France; a 5-star country house hotel in Ballyfin, Ireland; a foursome at the illustrious Pebble Beach, a trip to Tuscany plus opportunity to attend the sold out upcoming Grateful Dead concert at Soldier Field.
