Lollapalooza weekend fun kicked off Thursday night with a special party, “SOUL Sounds Chicago,” at the Hard Rock Hotel featuring artists Cee Lo and Miguel. The night started with Hollywood Holt on the turntables getting guests warmed up. He played an array of music while guests sipped on complimentary UV Vodka drinks and Asahi beer. Following Hollywood Holt was DJ Timbuck2 who needs no introduction when he jumps on the 1s & 2s but he started hi set off with Jay Z’s “Public Service Announcement” Allow me to re-introduce myself. In between jamming to the music, I spotted some stars in attendance such as worlds fastest rapper Twista, Pia Rizza of Chicago mob wives and basketball player Shannon Brown who talked about his upcoming Wood Star music festival in Union Park. They took pictures and posed with the SOUL headphones.
Miguel kicked off the performance part of the night with an array of his melodious hits to delight of the over 200 guests in attendance. I also spotted Chicago music legend George Daniels in the mix. Unfortunately I waited a while for Cee Lo’s performance and at that point my energy level was on zap so I had to call it a night. I heard he put on a good show though.
