• George is sorry. ABC News chief news anchor and former Bill Clinton Strategist George Stephanopoulos, apologized to viewers on Thursday for not disclosing that he donated $75,000 to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation between 2012-2014 even though the network recently covered a news story about the foundation. In a brief statement on air he said “Over the last several years I’ve made substantial donations to dozens of charities, including the Clinton Global Foundation. Those donations were a matter of public record but I should have made additional disclosures on air when we covered the foundation. And I now believe that directing personal donations to that foundation was a mistake.” [NY TIMES]

• Major General Godefroid Niyombare, the leader of a failed coup takeover of Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza has been arrested. This comes after two weeks of protesting “by opponents who say Nkurunziza has violated the constitution and a peace deal that ended civil war in 2005 by seeking a third five-year term.” Several other African nation leaders ar urging Burundi president Pierre Nkurunziza not to run for a third term but he wants to based on the fact that he was appointed for his first term in office by parliament not elected. In Indonesia, it is common practice to examine women applying to join the military to see if they are virgins or not. Their reasoning? to get the best people both physically and mentally. If the woman’s hymen is broken, she has to explain; “If it is due to an accident we can still consider it but if it’s due to another reason, well, we cannot accept her.” Global health officials and Human Rights leaders are fighting this practice.

• Netflix is going to China. According to recent reports, Netflix Inc. is in talks with a Chinese media company backed by Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba, as they seek entry into the $5.9 billion online video market, a market “expected to almost triple to 90 billion yuan by 2018.” Netflix is seeking a local partner, like Wasu Media Holding Co, that has licenses for content on all devices — including mobile phones, computers and set-top boxes. • It was announced Thursday that blues music Legend B.B King, 89, died in Las Vegas. [USA TODAY]
George Clooney has pulled out of Tom Ford’s anticipated new movie “Nocturnal Animals,” an adaptation of the 1993 novel “Tony and Susan” by Austin Wright starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, after “a huge falling out over creative issues.” But according to Clooney, it wasn’t a falling out but rather scheduling conflicts. • Julie Gilhart, Kikka Hanazawa, Miki Higasa and Tomoko Ogura founded Fashion Girls for Humanity in 2011 and now they’ve launched a campaign to raise funds for the victims of Nepal’s devastating earthquake disaster via CharityBuzz. Among the items are one-of-a-kind experiences such as a one-month internship at Thakoon; two tickets to the Oscar de la Renta fashion show in February and the opportunity to meet with Peter Copping; Lunch with Designer Nicole Miller in her NYC Showroom & a $500 Shopping Spree at the Soho Store; an America’s Cup yacht race for 20 people captained by a former America’s Cup crew; a VIP Glastonbury Festival experience.
