→ Shares of the Twitter went up 35 percent with news that monthly active users had risen 24 percent, which was better than analysts had expected. Twitters users increased to 271 million

WORLD NEWS

→ Amazon is set to invest $2 billion in India Reuters reports. India’s e-commerce sector is valued at about $13 billion. “With this additional investment of $2 billion, our team can continue to think big, innovate, and raise the bar for customers in India,” Chief Executive Jeff Bezos said in a statement. “At current scale and growth rates, India is on track to be our fastest country ever to a billion dollars in gross sales.”

SPORTS

→ UCLA campus suffered major flooding as a 93 year old water main broke. Athletic facility Pauley Pavillion had some water damage.
→ Longest game in the history of the Chicago Cubs came up victorious. Six hours, 27 minutes later, backup catcher John Baker pitched a scoreless 16th inning and scored the winning run to a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies.

CELEBRITIES

→ Jessica Barrymore, the half-sister of Drew Barrymore was found dead in her car surrounded by pills in National City, CA.
→ Villa Blanca the restaurant hotspot for celebs and owned by Lisa Vanderpump of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is up for sale. The restaurant was ordered to pay $100k in punitive damages to former employee Karina Bustillos after winning a sexual harassment lawsuit.

→ Spanx is getting in the jeans game. The famous under garment concealer maker is offering jeans in 2 styles, available in two cuts, the Slim-X and the Signature. Now you can look amazing in those skinny jeans.
→ The  “Peanuts” comic strip’s 65th anniversary will be marked by  reprisal of a designer collaboration “Snoopy in Fashion,” that launched in 1984. WWD reports that “the designers and labels outfitting Snoopy and Belle this time are Dries Van Noten, Calvin Klein Collection, Isabel Marant, Rodarte, as well as Betsey Johnsonand Diane von Furstenberg.”
“The 2014 iteration of “Snoopy and Belle in Fashion,” which features vinyl beagle dolls wearing the designer looks, will launch Sept. 8 at the New Museum during New York Fashion Week.” Followed by stops at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Moscow and Milan.
