All about stamina. Last night the first Presidential debate between GOP candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidiate Hillary Clinton took place at Hofstra University, moderated by Lester Holt. Out the gate both candidates came out strong with Trump nailing his points on trade and TPP but then it turned into Hillary’s debate where she provided receipts on some of his claims and even slipped in a shimmy and smirk (gif for days). Trump took her bait of getting under his skin and he seemed to lose his cool several times. One of the zingers Clinton had was saying “I did prepare for the debate. You know what else I prepared for? To be President.” Moderator Holt who was interrupted several times by Trump had the #WhereisLester hashtag trending for a bit. Moments to note in conversation: Tax return issue (what is he hiding?); Race issue and Trump’s loud sigh; Alicia Machado; Sidney Blumenthal and the birther issue; Chicago and Trumps constant reference to violence and Stop & Frisk success in NYCr. Post debate most moderators seemed to think Hillary was better prepared for it. • The most expensive home sold so far this year in Chicago goes to Vince Vaughn who split his property inside the Palmolive building at 159 E. Walton Place into two listings. The three-bedroom condominium sold for $4.1 million after selling the two floors above for $8 million earlier this month.

• One of Chicago’s favorite chef turned food entrepreneur is cashing in. Rick Bayless’ Frontera foods which he co-founded with Manny Valdes will be acquired by Chicago HQed ConAgra foods for an undisclosed sum.

• Actress Cicely Tyson was honored at the American Theatre Wing annual Gala last night. Samuel and LaTonya Richardson Jackson,  Spike Lee, Christian Soriano and Brad Walsh, Lucy Liu, Randy Zuckerberg were all in attendance. Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo, Adrian Lenox, OITNB star, Emmy nominee and newly announced Lane Bryant spokesmodel Danielle Brooks honored Tyson by performing with the Cicely Tyson Celebration Choir. 

• Yesterday Naomi Watts and Live Schreiber announced they are splitting after 11 years together. Though both actors were not married, they have 2 children. In conscious coupling news, Nicole from the E! show WAGS finally got the ring/proposal  she’s been looking for all season. 

FASHION

• Vogue.com vs Bloggers, ruh oh. Yesterday the fashion bible’s online arm posted their reviews of Milan Fashion week shows but in addition to heaping praise on their beloved designers they took some cheap shots at bloggers legacy brands seem to hate to love. Vogue Creative Digital Director Sally Singer opined: Note to bloggers who change head-to-toe, paid-to-wear outfits every hour: Please stop. Find another business. You are heralding the death of style. Yikes!
