Taxi Cabs data. Cab rides are down 23% and that could be attributed to Lyft and Uber’s growth in Chicago. DNAinfo reports that based on data provided, they found that 11.3 million miles were logged by cabs, but the number is down compared to the past two years. • World leaders gathered to say goodbye to former Isreali Prime Minister Shimon Peres. President Obama and former President Bill Clinton were in attendance. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority; President François Hollande of France, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada, President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico were also present. NYT reports that, “the gathering resembled those of other world figures who transcended international boundaries, like Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul II, drawing leaders and diplomats from around the world.”
• Yesterday two separate shootings within six hours took place on the Eisenhower expressway in Chicago. Before 6am, the first shooting took place, a 22-year-old man was killed and his passenger injured. The second shooting took place around noon and one of the victims died in the hospital. There’s been a surge in highway killings, 44 since January (38 total last year), compounding to the increased murder rates in Chicago. Cook County Commissioner wants federal authorities to get involved. Also Bed bugs were found on some red line train cars, ew.
• Early yesterday morning in New Jersey a train crash occurred in Hoboken killing one and injuring about 114 people. Investigators are currently going over what went wrong; one black box has been found. The person killed in the crash was Fabiola Bitter de Kroon, 34, a married mother of one who was standing at the platform as the train sped in. Witnesses say the train did not slow down and early reports are calling this an accident and not an act of terror.

• Bill Clinton is not the only one that loves balloons, Princess Charlotte on her first official royal tour in Canada with her parents and brother Prince George, attended a party at the Government House in Victoria, BC. She is now walking and said her first public word (Pop-pop, Dada) but the cutest was when she got to playing with the balloons and then resting herself on one of the dogs.
• UFC’s purchase by WME-IMG for $4 billion, making it one of the largest sports transactions, is now naming its A-list investors. 23 celebs including Tom Brady, Tyler Perry, Ben Affleck, Adam Levine, Jimmy Kimmel Conan O’Brien, Serena and Venus Williams; majority of whom are represented by WME-IMG the talent agency co-CEOd by Mayor Emanuel’s brother Ari Emanuel.
