• Vice Presidential candidates Mike Pence and Tim Kaine will go head to head for tonight’s debate starting at 8pm CST moderated by Elaine Quijano of CBS News. It will air on all the major networks, streamed online and through FB Live.

• Birth control pills for women has been suggested to cause depression and now a study has given it scientific backing. Newly published study from the University of Copenhagen has confirmed a link between hormonal contraceptives and depression. One million Danish women between the ages of 15 and 34 were tracked for a total of 13 years. Researchers found that women taking the combined oral contraceptive were 23% more likely to be diagnosed with depression and those using progestin-only pills (also known as “the mini-pill”) were 34% more likely. 

• A 21 year old woman, Adriana Mayes, walking with her one year old daughter in the Roseland neighborhood was shot to death yesterday; she may have been caught in cross fire as witnesses reported 2 groups of men exchanging gun fire. No arrests have been made yet. Though an online fundraiser for her has not yet surfaced, you can read about and see how you can get involved with the Coalition to stop Gun Violence.

• Starting on Oct. 13 Harry Potter is coming to an IMAX theatre near your for one week only. Ahead of the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on Nov. 18.  

• South by South Lawn (SXSL) a day long festival at the White House, which is an adaptation of South by S took place yesterday. President Obama was in conversation with Leonardo DiCaprio and Scientist Katharine Hayhoe about climate change. Performances from The Lumineers and Dap kings and much more.

• Former Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz was bestowed the Commander of the Legion of Honour (Officier in the Légion D’Honneur) title – the highest order for military and civil merits in France yesterday along with the announcement that he is collaborating with Frédéric Malle on a fragrance, Superstitious,that will debut in March 2017. Speaking of Paris, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton bought a reported 80% stake worth approx $716 million in luxury travel luggage brand Rimowa. The transacation should be completed by January 2017.
