You see France is days away from a highly contested presidential election race. The shootout, which took place on the Champs Elysees, left one officer dead but the assailant was also shot dead. We now know that the terrorist group linked gunman served 15 years in jail previously for attempting to murder 2 police officers and was arrested 2 months prior for similar offense. • Queen Elizabeth II turns 91 today.
• Russia is back in the news and this time its not about their arms race; its because of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The government called the Christian group and its approx. 175,000 members extremists who posed a “threat” to “public order and public security.” I mean we’ve all dodged a doorbell ring or 5 but extremists?! Russia’s Supreme court’s recent ruling means the group’s St. Petersburg headquarters and 395 churches could be seized and liquidated and they are banned from worship and door-to-door evangelizing. Russia is also suspect of potentially meddling in France’s upcoming presidential election
• The former Tennessee teacher, Tad Cummins, who kidnapped his 15 year old student, Elizabeth Thomas, has been caught and the student found alive after weeks of pleas for him to turn himself in and return her. They were found in a rural area in Cecilville in California. Cummins is charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual contact with a minor.

• Richard Simmons has finally emerged, sort of. The reclusive star who was the subject of a viral podcast has not been seen out in public for quite some time but was recently hospitalized for indigestion issues. He was photographed heading home though he was fully draped and you could only see his feet, if it was him.
• Charlie Murphy was laid to rest on Wednesday and in attendance were his Chappelle Show comrades, Dave Chappelle, Neil Brennan, Donnell Rawlings; George Lopez, Eddie Griffin.
FASHION
• Dior staged their Sp/Su 2017 couture runway show in Tokyo in celebration of Dior’s new flagship store at the rooftop of Ginza Six mall in Tokyo. Bebe will shut down all 175 of its stores in the US by the end of May. Lastly, Jet.com founder Marc Lore whose company (he owned 15.9%) was acquired by Walmart and now he serves as an exec on the e-commerce arm received $243.9 million in compensation last year which partly includes restricted stock and Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon got a $22.4 million pay package last year.
