• President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife, Ho Ching yesterday, fêteing them at their 12th White house state dinner and 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between US and Singapore. Guests in attendance included Laurene Powell (Steve Jobs’ widow) and her BF, former DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, Mark Kelly and Gabby Gifford, Walgreens Boots Alliance CEO Stefano Pessina, Caterpillar CEO Douglas Oberhelman, even Suntimes’ Lynn Sweet. Singer Chrisette Michele performed. Mrs. Obama wore a custom Brandon Maxwell strapless dress. Not familiar with Maxwell? Think Lady Gaga and some of her recent memorable attires including the Oscars’ Alaïa number. Maxwell was a CFDA Swarovski winner.

• Politics. Yesterday, HP President/CEO and former Ebay CEO Meg Whitman announced she will be throwing her money and support behind Hillary Clinton not fellow Republican and ‘demagogue’ Donald Trump. He took his Trump vileness to new heights yesterday when he kicked out a crying baby and mother from his rally. He has also hinted that he will not endorse Speaker Paul Ryan nor Senator John McCain, two who have rallied to support him even with their party divided. There’s also the matter of the purple heart that he received from a supporter. The DNC emails wikileaks that saw Wasserman Schultz resign, now has a few others following suit. Also word on the wire is that President Obama ok-ed $400 mil to be airlifted to Iran in exchange for the freedom of 4 Americans that were detained in Tehran.

• If you can’t beat ’em copy ’em is the motto for the new Instagram ‘stories’ which many have called an exact replication of Snapchat’s stories. See the thing is Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook owns Instagram, led by CEO Kevin Systrom. Zuck tried to buy Snapchat, valued at nearly $20 billion, for $3 billion a while back to no avail. All the cool kids are on snap not Periscope, duh! The whole internets had a field day with memes, confusion and which side they would choose. If you’re on snapchat add us {here}

• Time Warner has purchased a 10% stake in Hulu the Netflix competitor, after releasing better than expected second quarter results. THR reports that TW’s Turner unit has agreed to an affiliate deal that will put all of its channels on Hulu’s live-streaming service that is set to launch early next year.

• The CEO of Salvatore Ferragamo, Michele Norsa, is resigning after 10 years with the Italian brand. Former Furla CEO, Eraldo Poletto will take his post. The business of fashion musical chairs continues, gotta love it.

•  Yesterday, PVH officially let out the bag the worst kept secret in fashion by announcing the appointment of Raf Simons as the new creative director for women’s and men’s brand of Calvin Klein. The Raf Era begins.

“If you are facing a new challenge or being asked to do something that you have never done before don’t be afraid to step out. You have more capability than you think you do but you will never see it unless you place a demand on yourself for more.” ― Joyce Meyer
