Hope Hicks Leaving WH.  A day after her 9 hours long testimony to the House Intelligence committee was revealed, where she admitted to telling white lies for the president, White House communications director Hope Hicks is stepping down. Some reports are noting that President Trump berated Hicks saying ‘how she could be so stupid’ though he and several other Trump administration officials had nothing but kids words in statements/tweets released. She’s the fourth WH Comms director since Trump took office in 2017. Hick’s rumoured boyfriend Rob Porter, who was the WH staff secretary resigned from his post last month….Read more

• President Trump hosted a bipartisan meeting Wednesday where it looks like he might have stood up to the NRA.  The meeting was to discuss efforts to curtail gun violence and the president seems to be for it, though the NRA and some conservative allies of the president rejected his stance. The president showed an openness to expanding background checks, possibly raising the age to purchase AR-15 rifles and also overriding due process, if necessary, to take guns away from mentally ill.
 
• In Chicago news: The Chicago Bears’ headline making offseason acquisition in 2016 is just not working out. After acquiring former Tampa bay Bucs backup QB Mike Glennon in 2016 for a three-year, $45-million deal, the Bears are set to release Glennon at the start of free agency on March 14. Glennon, a 3rd round pick for the of Bucs in 2013 started only 18 games before arriving in Chicago to a 1-3 record. A rare 6 way organ transplant exchange was completed in Chicago at Northwersten Memorial Hospital last week. Dorothy Brown, the  Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, has for the past few years been investigated for misconduct in her office by federal authorities which she’s denied but federal prosecutors have now outlined a new set of allegations of bribery. One employee allegedly told investigators the “going rate” to a buy a job there was $10,000 which was to be given to Brown’s personal “bagman.” 

• A 53-year-old social studies teacher in North Georgia named Randal Davidson is now in custody of police after barricading himself in a classroom and firing a shot from his handgun. No students were harmed though the school was on lockdown. This comes on the wake of president Trump’s remarks about arming teachers.

ENTERTAINMENT

The insurance company for disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein filed a suit Wednesday refusing to pay his legal defense on the accounts that the lawsuits against Weinstein do not “attach under the policies based on the application of certain policy terms, conditions and exclusions and therefore Chubb has no obligation under any of the policies identified herein to defend or indemnify Harvey Weinstein in the Underlying Lawsuits.” Weinstein was asking for them to pay for the 11 sexual harassment lawsuits he faces.
•  Leonardo Di Caprio and Brad Pitt will star in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Manson movie, to be titled “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” According to Variety, Tarantino, who is writing and directing, describes the project as “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood.

 

FASHION

• This is an unexpected appointment but earlier today, heritage British fashion house Burberry announced former Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci will be its new creative officer, effective March 12 of this year. This as Christopher Bailey announced he is stepping down. Tisci was previously rumored to take the Versace job last year. Is Rockford native Virgil Abloh going to be named Vogue and Vice announced a collaboration last year tentatively called Project Vs that was to launch this week but both media brands are putting the partnership on hold apparently because some sponsors got cold feet after NYTimes’  investigation into allegations of sexual harassment at Vice.
