Trump’s Tales.  After his lunch with Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell Monday, President Trump hosted a press conference at the Rose Garden, and one of the comments he made did not sit well with Gold Star families. When asked why he hadn’t yet commented on the deaths of four elite U.S. special forces soldiers in Niger, trump responded saying he had written to the families and planned to call them at some point and ‘If you look at president Obama and other presidents – most of them didn’t’ make calls. A lot of them didn’t make calls.’ Everyone including Pres. Obama’s WH photog Pete Souza pulled receipts to contradict his statement which he had to somewhat walk back. Speaking of walking back, the president’s nominee for DEA chief, Tom Marino, is withdrawing his name following a report he played a key role in passing a bill weakening federal authority to stop companies from distributing opioids, days after the explosive “60 Minutes” Washington Post report about the opioid crisis…..Read more

Gone too soon but never forgotten. Singer Selena Quintanilla got the Google Doodle tribute today. On this day in 1989, the late Mexican-American star Selena Quintanilla released her first album, Selena.  Quintanilla was one of Latin music’s most formidable stars before she was murdered at the age of 23 in 1995. 

 
In Chicago news: Chicago has been named the ‘Rat Capital of The Country’ according to pest control company Orkin. A man fell down from the 20th floor of the LondonHouse hotel and landed on the 6th fl roof but he did not survive. They are investigating how he got there as he was not an employee of the loop located hotel. In Chicago media beat, Robert Feder is reporting that Fox32’s Darlene Hill might be headed for the exits and “appears to be on a collision course with her bosses after 23 years at the Fox-owned station.” Check out this video of rare footage from Beyoncé social media strategy session.

 Senator John McCain (R-Arz) was presented the Liberty Medal by the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, by former VP Joe Biden and he used the opportunity to deliver a speech cautioning against the US turning toward “half-baked, spurious nationalism.”

 Elle magazine celebrated its annual Women in Hollywood Awards Monday night in tinseltown. The 2017 honorees were: 2017, Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, Laura Dern, Tessa Thompson, Jessica Chastain, Cicely Tyson, Riley Keough and Kathleen Kennedy. Coming off the heels of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harrasment revelations, Jennifer Lawrence shared some of the “degrading and humiliating” experiences she has had in Hollywood.
• Though they’ve made multiple red carpet appearances (not together), Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender have never really fully confirmed their relationship and now they’ve taken said privacy to the next level. The got married, apparently in Ibiza as both were spotted rocking bling on their left ring fingers.

• Tommy Hilfiger is launching a line of adaptive apparel for adults with disabilities. The line will feature 34 women’s and 37 men’s style. Hilfiger launched the adaptive collection for kids last year with Runway of Dreams. Is Phoebe Philo preparing to leave fashion house Céline? The fashion rumour mill is in overdrive over reports LVMH is interviewing designers to replace to replace the creative director who took on the role in 2008. Kate Lanphear has been named Marie Claire magazine’s new creative director filing the void left by Nina Garcia who is now Elle’s EIC. This is curious timing, Jenni Konner and Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter has now linked with Condé Nast as rumors that Dunham is being considered for the Conde owned Glamour mag EIC role (I sure hope not) persists.
