After his lunch with Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell Monday, President Trump hosted a press conference at the Rose Garden, and one of the comments he made did not sit well with Gold Star families. When asked why he hadn’t yet commented on the deaths of four elite U.S. special forces soldiers in Niger, trump responded saying he had written to the families and planned to call them at some point and ‘If you look at president Obama and other presidents – most of them didn’t’ make calls. A lot of them didn’t make calls.’ Everyone including Pres. Obama’s WH photog Pete Souza pulled receipts to contradict his statement which he had to somewhat walk back. On this day in 1989, the late Mexican-American star Selena Quintanilla released her first album, Selena. Quintanilla was one of Latin music’s most formidable stars before she was murdered at the age of 23 in 1995.
• In Chicago news: Chicago has been named the ‘Rat Capital of The Country’ according to pest control company Orkin. A man fell down from the 20th floor of the LondonHouse hotel and landed on the 6th fl roof but he did not survive. They are investigating how he got there as he was not an employee of the loop located hotel. • Tommy Hilfiger is launching a line of adaptive apparel for adults with disabilities. The line will feature 34 women’s and 37 men’s style. The fashion rumour mill is in overdrive over reports LVMH is interviewing designers to replace to replace the creative director who took on the role in 2008. Kate Lanphear has been named Marie Claire magazine’s new creative director filing the void left by Nina Garcia who is now Elle’s EIC. This is curious timing, Jenni Konner and Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter has now linked with Condé Nast as rumors that Dunham is being considered for the Conde owned Glamour mag EIC role (I sure hope not) persists.
