Hermès Exhibition To Open In Chicago’s Historic Union Station
Have you ever wondered what it takes to bring the famed Parisian leather and fashion house’s crafts to life? How Hermès objects, designed to last, repaired and passed on has defied trends and its well crafted products are in demand more than ever and continues to grow? Wonder no more as a new open to the public exhibition opening Friday October 27 through November 1, will give visitors an insider look. “Hermès in The Making” the new exhibition (Oct. 27-Nov.1) from the house of Hermès will launch as the store unboxes its new boutique in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Earlier in 2023, the exhibition traveled across the globe to Singapore, Kyoto and Lille, before making its way to Union Station (221 S. Clinton Street) in Chicago for 6 days with live demonstrations, workshops, film, interactive activities. An INVITE ONLY/RSVP REQUIRED panel discussion on Creativity and Culture & Contemporary Relevance of Craftsmanship Practice will also take place on the first day of the exhibition.

Since its founding in 1837, six generations of artisans have safeguarded and nurtured their historic know-how in the Hermès workshops. This heritage is a living, flourishing and constantly evolving treasure trove of artisanal skills. Hermès in the Making brings craftspeople from nearly ten of the house’s métiers to offer a sneak-peek into their expert techniques and exclusive know-how. Their work echoes the heart of Hermès: preserving and developing savoir-faire – expertise which is often linked to a historical tradition or region – a quest for quality, durability and innovation, and respect for the surrounding environments.
This 6-day public event features live demonstrations, workshops, interactive activities, and films spread throughout the space. Customize your visit according to your curiosity and interests.

The revamped Hermès boutique will officially open to clients and guests on Monday October 30. A private invite only cocktail reception will be held days before with Diane Mahady, President Hermès USA, and Guillaume De Seynes, EVP manufacturing, Division & Equity Investment, Hermès slated to attend.
