New York Times’ Vanessa Friedman reports that Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington, the flame haired ginger who has been with the Condé Nast  fashion bible since 1988 will step down from her role and will now become creative editor at large doing “several” stories a year for the glossy and exploring outside opportunities. One of those is a perfume collaboration with Comme des Garçons, due out in April, a film and another book so she won’t be totally gone from fashion. Ms. Friedman’s piece also hits on the shift in fashion and what that may mean for the future.

Speaking to Business of Fashion (BOF) in an exclusive interview, she said “I really love Vogue, it’s been in my life always, they discovered me as a model at 19, I’m not running away from Vogue, because it has opened so many doors. But it will be nice to collaborate, and nice to go out [and] give talks to people. It’s just another approach. I’m certainly not going into retirement. I don’t want to sit around.”
