As we all come to grips with our current reality, not out new normal, many of the things we once did and maybe took for granted, we’ve been longing for more and more. Not so say that the gravity of this global pandemic is not at the forefront of what we do, but we’re human, having to restrict what was once routine can take some getting used to. One of those activities involves opting for a fancy dining experience (when you can afford it) every so often, or in the case of those deep pocketed residents that hate cooking, a daily occurrence. While we approach celebration season amidst the coronavirus lockdown, you don’t have to sacrifice the feasting part just because we are urged to stay at home, though you still need to observe social distance like for real. Being able to even have food delivered to you at home is a luxury, let alone food that costs as much as someone’s weekly or monthly grocery budget, we are well aware, but we know there are some people that are probably celebrating one thing or another during this time and may not want to do cooking for it. For any upcoming celebrations be it Graduation, Mother’s day, bachelor/bachelorette, Father’s day, anniversary, first zoom date night, long term partners date night and a movie or just because, during COVID-19 lockdown, we’ve curated some of our favorite fancy feasting spots including some Michelin starred ones, in Chicago offering curbside pickup or delivery service so you can still have your fave in the comfort of home. If you’re looking to save some money on restaurant wine upcharge, pick up your favorite wine pairing from Jewel’s extensive wine selections.
We thank those restaurants and residents donating funds to relief and goFundme efforts, donating PPE, as well as meals to healthcare workers all over Chicago and beyond.
Chicago’s only three Michelin Star restaurant had to pivot amidst the crisis when all dine-in service has been put on hold. Though the highlight of an Alinea visit was the presentation of its 15 course, that was good content for your insta feed, you can still get the Alinea feasting at home. Alinea is offering weekly comfort food pickup menu that can be reserved through Tock, priced per person. Menu items which vary from week to week has included beef short rib wellington, Coq au vin or duck cassoulet. You won’t get the pomp and show that many diners at the Lincoln Park restaurant get when they book a 15-course menu costing almost $300 but at least you can dine on Alinea level food for a fraction of that price and still feel fancy AF.
