The 2nd annual Night Heist fundraiser by the Evening Associates Board Directors of the Art Institute of Chicago was held Friday April 13 at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. The night had so many fun elements entwined into it starting with cocktails. As guests filled into the modern wing they were greeted with sounds from Violinist Edith Yokley and a huge wall display of a montage of different pictures from the animated photo booth by Tribeca Flashpoint. There was an array of different food stations that guests could choose from and they were delicious! Guests mingled while viewing the different silent auction offerings and they could bid on it using bid pal(um whoever invented that should be getting that instagram $$ too). BidPal is so genius especially for large fundraisers.
Zoe Ryan,” the visionary behind the exhibit” Fashioning the Object: Bless, Boudicca, Sandra Backlund explained to guests about the exhibit and how it explores what fashion is all about. Heidi Dollinger and Chris Murphy were the Co-Chairs of the benefit. In addition to the variety of food and open bar, guests could also partake in the CakeStyle “Capture your style” and get sketched by an SAIC artist. There were 5 different stations and each sketch artist had a different style. I would share what my sketch looked like but alas this post is not about me. the band Hey Champ performed some of their hits and later in the night Dance Chicago took over the dance floor for a performance. The party continued at Enclave but this Cinderella had to get some rest in order to make it to fortitude(AH-mazing workout at DBG w Jeremey Walton).
We weren’t allowed to take pictures of the actual exhibit, I snuck one from the outside but its definitely worth checking out. Bless was a bit different as it had apparel fused into these metal chain curtains. Boudicca uses fashion as a forum for exploring issued related to contemporary society there was a McQueen-esque element to one of the pieces with the lace mask. Sandra Backlund had this intricate origami top. Again it’s worth checking out.
Some of the sponsors who helped make this fun night possible were: CakeStyle, World Wines, post27, Two Brothers brewing co, NADEX, CAPGUN, United Continental Airlines, Alexis Bitta, Giorgio Armani, Hart Davis Hart and so many more.
