Model Mercedes Johnson Costume Ball Ebony Fashion Fair

Although the exhibit itself was two years* in the making, The Ebony Fashion Fair story began five decades prior when Eunice Johnson, the incomparable architect of the traveling fashion show, brought some of the world’s most exclusive fashion pieces to many attendees of the show.  The party to celebrate the opening of the exhibit culminated as a party to remember celebrating the fabulousness of Mrs. Eunice Johnson. Friday evening, many of Chicago’s who’s who and exemplary philanthropic, civic and the fashion leaders all gathered under one roof at the Chicago History museum for the annual Costume Ball and preview of the newest and the museum’s largest exhibit(to date)- Inspiring Beauty: 50 years of Ebony Fashion Fair. As guests arrived and ascended the stairwell, they were greeted by models wearing some of the archived pieces.
