Hockey Legend Chelios’ Daughter Weds Packer In Beautiful Wedding At Chicago’s Peninsula Hotel

Many brides imagine a dream wedding on the perfect summer day in Chicago designed and executed by a dream team. Bride Caley Chelios and groom Danny Vitale lived out that dream Saturday July 13 in front of family and close friends. The wedding of Caley Chelios, daughter of hockey legend and former Blackhawk Chris Chelios, to Green Bay Packers fullback Danny Vitale #chelibratethevitales, took place at The Peninsula Hotel Chicago on July 13 and was planned by Hope Weis, photographed by Rick KingenSmith with decor/design from Rishi Patel of HMR Weddings. The bride and her parents arrived to the ceremony, which took place at historic Saint James Chapel, in a vintage 1946 Packard Clipper.
The bride, who is now a Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey Reporter met her groom at Northwestern University, where she was a lacrosse player and he played football. People magazine had the exclusive on the couples wedding where they shared their day, fave moments and celeb guests like John Cusack, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Kid Rock and Eddie Vedder in attendance.
The bride wore a Reema Acra lace embellished high neck dress, from Dimitras Bridal later changing into a second look for the afterparty, a jumpsuit by Galia Lahav. The bridesmaids wore Amsale, with Chelios’ sister Tara — her maid of honor — in Marchesa.
“Our wedding was the most magical day from beginning to end…My favorite moment was getting to see Danny for the first time, standing at the bottom of the grand staircase at The Peninsula. I could not have dreamed of a more perfect moment…Every single moment from our day together felt like it was out of a fairytale,” says Chelios. “We are so grateful to our amazing vendor team, especially our planner Hope Weis. All of the decor was absolutely stunning and decadent, thanks to HMR Designs. The looks on our families’ faces throughout our special day were priceless.”
“Overall, the whole experience was above and beyond what I could have imagined. We cannot stop replaying the whole weekend in our heads. It shocked us both!’ Vitale said.
The cocktail reception, dinner and dancing to the Gold Coast all took place at The Peninsula. The evening’s dinner menu included saffron risotto with farmer’s market vegetables, an entrée of either citrus glazed Chilean seabass or herb-marinated beef tenderloin. In addition to the wedding cake, guests were also treated to chocolate chip cookies, mini cannoli and Baklava. The groom also lived out his rockstar dreams playing with the band Weezer.
