The Museum of Science and Industry hosted its Annual Black Creativity Gala on Saturday January 28, 2012 with over 700 guests in attendance. The goal was to raise money for the, now year round, Black Creativity program at the Museum of Science and Industry. The Black Creativity program pays tribute to the culture, heritage and science contributions of African Americans. Gala Chair Gale Foster Farley and Executive Chair Shari Runner along with MSI President & CEO David Mosena welcomed and thanked guests for their generous support. Greg Hinton and Anita Green were also recognized for their fundraising efforts for the program. Retiring Chairman and CEO of ComED Frank Clark, and Vice Chair of the gala also addressed guests.
Emcee for the evening was NBC5 Chicago’s Marion Brooks. The evening started off with a cocktail reception where guests were able to view the artwork from the juried exhibition that was on display. The strolling buffet dinner catered by Sodexo then commenced in the museum’s rotunda.

The highlight of the night was when singer Freddie Jackson got on stage. Guests flocked to the dance floor as he crooned some of his famous songs. I must admit I wasn’t too familiar with him prior to this event but he definitely knows how to work the crowd. The Exhibit runs through April 25, 2012
