Best Beach in the Heartland Chicago Named 6 of Best Beaches in America
Chicago residents already knew this, we suffer through polar vortex and hellacious winters for it and now Chicago’s beach, that runs along Lake Michigan has been named one of 6 best [superlatives] beaches in the country by GQ Magazine. Best Beach in the Heartland goes to Chicago.
Of course it’s a beach. It has sand (better than parts of Cali) and water (but it’s fresh and clean-feeling) and all the stuff you care to do at any other beach (unless you surf). There’s volleyball, the famous Ferris wheel at Navy Pier, and—oh yeah—one of the greatest cities in the world literally right across the street. The sand is so integrated into Chicago life that you can arrive via subway. Try that in Florida and see how far you get.
Other named beaches include Sullivan’s Island in Charleston SC; Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles; Cannon Beach in OR and Hanalei Bay in Kaua’i, HI.
