Last week the big news out of Chicago was the $70million grant awarded for the UI Labs which makes us the only city with bragging rights to the future of American, digital manufacturing. Now we can add another bragging right as the only city in the country to have renowned 12.29 candles sold on site, but for a limited time.

Thompson Chicago (21 E. Bellevue Pl. | corner of Rush St. and Bellevue Pl.) will host the popup shop for the exclusive candles which have only been available through their websites, from March 13-20 weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The 12.29 team have created fragrance for celebrities and internationally recognized brand such as Mercedes and Thompson Hotels created custom auras for runway shows from Rodarte to Jason Wu. Thompson Hotels’ signature brand scent, “Velvet” – to debut this premiere lobby boutique was created by 12.29. The week-long lobby boutique preempts the release of 12.29 and Thompson Hotels’ signature “Velvet” candle collaboration.

Providing custom scents for private residences, the 12.29 candle collection saturates personal spaces with aromas that highlight bold notes and textures to evoke feelings of comfort and warmth – the epitome of “home.” , patrons can pick from three variants: “A Dark Affair Desire” (a dangerous love story that burns and breathes with hints of textured amber, smoked woods, deep resin, and incense); “A Forgotten Memory” (reminiscent of a romantic daydream filled with sumptuous leather, fresh tobacco, and earthy woods entangled in warm spices); or “Forget Everything but Me” (a passionate story of unbridled romance scented in lux saffron, animal notes, dark woods, and resin).
