CHROME TOUR

CHI Chrome Event-1

San Francisco-based Chrome Industries is touring the country with a 70 year old forged rubber machine making sneakers to show people their approach to ‘slow manufacturing. They are bringing a vintage war apparel machine to Chicago on July 11 & 12 and demonstrating the old-fashioned process of shoe manufacturing to the public.

The salvaged 70-year-old Slovakian “Forged Rubber” machine will trek the U.S. from coast-to-coast to personally showcase the new manufacturing process in stores before shipping the unit back overseas.We’d love to have you over. Each Forged Rubber sneaker is individually made by hand using heated pressure and fused directly onto the upper to ensure no separation between the upper and the sole.

SECOND FRIDAYS PILSEN ART

The Chicago Arts District hosts 2nd Fridays Gallery Night, the monthly opening receptions at the galleries and artists’ studios centered around South Halsted and 18th Streets in Chicago. The event begins at 6:00pm and runs til 10:00pm.
Come visit the 30+ creative spaces in the Chicago Arts District at South Halsted and 18th Streets as they showcase an exciting display of art and artists from Chicago and beyond. This unique art community opens its doors, free of charge, and lets you get up close and personal with the art and artists. Some galleries also have wine and cheese.

EVENING ASSOCIATES NIGHT HEIST

The Evening Associates Board of Directors and the Art Institute of Chicago are pleased to announce the fourth annual “Night Heist” benefit, to be held in the museum’s Modern Wing on July 11, 2014. This year’s event, influenced by the Chicago presentation of the groundbreaking exhibition Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926-1938, will draw upon the extraordinary imagery created by the legendary Belgian surrealist René Magritte.

AMERICA HOME BREWERS RALLY

The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) hosts a series of AHA Rallies across the country to give homebrewers the chance to check out some of their local breweries and connect with other beer enthusiasts and homebrewers in their area. This upcoming Rally will be held in Chicago at Revolution Brewing Company, and offers the opportunity to take a VIP tour of the brewery, meet brewery staff, enjoy Revolution beer samples, and win great prizes from the brewery and AHA.
