If you weren’t there for Chicago’s first ever running of the America’s Cup World Series June 10-12 on Lake Michigan, you probably had a case of FOMO with all the insta snapchats and lakefront photos from Navy Pier. If you were there, among the record crowd of over 200,000, you know how cool it was to see those catamarans flip speed and sway. Artemis Racing took the win at the award presentation with Land Rover BAR and SoftBank Team Japan in second and third place, respectively.
America’s cup is like Formula 1 Grand Prix for rich people, but on water. Seeing those catamarans speed was insane and the close races had the crowd ooh and ahhhing. Here’s a 60 second video recap of the weekend. Here’s hoping they consider bringing it back next year to Chicago, it certainly was a treat having it here.
