This book is LITERALY one of my favorite books ever and not only because it was set in the best era-roaring 20’s, but because F. Scott Fitzgerald created a lasting literary masterpiece through a turbulent life. It was required reading for me and most other students in high school. The character Daisy Buchanan apparently was based on a Lake Forest debutante Ginevra King who eventually married into a wealthy family. The book has a Chicago-Lake Forest- connection and one of the most exclusive country club around-Onwentsia also.
The movie debuts in theaters nationwide Friday May 10 so what better way to prep to see the movie than to refresh yourself on the storyline of Jay Gatsby, Daisy, Nick and the ever present eye. The book is a fast read and though not every scene and/or plot will be interpreted in the movie it’s still a great book.
