This week’s Tome Tuesday has a Chicago connection. Louis Comfort Tiffany son of Tiffany & Co founder Charles Lewis Tiffany and one of the most widely collected artists of our time. Louis Comfort Tiffany mastered the technicality of Art Nouveau and aesthetic style to produce innovative designs using stained glass and mosaics that are still revered today. Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection which is scheduled to be released in September. The book will include 60 pieces, including lamps, stained-glass windows, vases, metalwork and furnishings, from the Driehaus Museum will be featured in the book and also on display at the Driehaus Museum for an inaugural exhibition. If you’ve visited the Chicago Cultural Center, The Harold Washington Public library, The Art Institute you have probably come across a Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass treasure. Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection is written by David Hanks with a preface by Richard H. Driehaus- founder of the Driehaus Museum whose collection includes about 1,500 different pieces.
