Whether you want to explore new haunts in Chicago, relax, take in a festival, or have a night out on the town that’ll make your snapchat and insta stories get #FOMO, here’s what to get into this weekend. It’s #summertimeChi so there’s a lot taking place this weekend but these are the recommended ones for  you to go either solo or with a group for a good time. FRIDAY AUGUST 9

WHAT :: Friday Night Beer Flights

WHY:: Drink Beer, Hang Out, And Explore A New Neighborhood taking in summer time chi. Friday Night Flights takes place in different neighborhoods throughout the city all summer and this year they have another exciting lineup of local beer tastings that highlight Chicago’s craft brew movement. Bet you didn’t know we had local breweries from the South Loop, Bronzeville, Pilsen, Bridgeport, Pullman, and Beverly. They will be on hand to provide the beer while Pier 31 provides the music, food, and some of the best views of the city’s skyline. This event is open to the public and free to attend.

WHAT :: Bloomingdales Outlet Grand Opening

WHERE:: Village Square Northbrook| 
WHEN :: August 9 | Starting 10am
WHY:: For all our ballers on a budget, fashionable and wallet conscious shoppers this one’s for you. Whether its back to school shopping, wedding season or hot girl/city boys szn gear, there’s something for you. Bloomingdales is opening their 3rd outlet location in the Chicagoland area; 21,000 sq. ft one at the Village Square at Northbrook. They already have spots at Fashion Outlets in Rosemont and in Schaumburg. They are opening this . Shoppers at the grand opening weekend will be treated to special surprises and savings in a range of off-price apparel and accessories, including women’s ready-to-wear, men’s, and home. The great thing about the Bloomingdale’s outlet is that it’s the same high quality products from brands Burberry, Vince, Joie, Equipment, Furla, and more but at a fraction of the price where you can find savings up to 70% off.

SATURDAY AUGUST 10

WHAT :: Made In Chicago Market

WHERE :: Plumber’s Hall | 1340 W Washington Blvd, Chicago
WHEN :: Saturday Aug. 10 | 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
WHY:: Made in Chicago market in during the day You’re invited to join Chicago’s best makers and creatives for a day of shopping, celebration and fun. Explore beautiful products handmade by artists right here in Chicago. Sample delicious food and drinks and enjoy activities provided by American Bocce Co. This is an event organized by The Sun Times.

WHAT :: Stans Donuts 5k & Kids Dash

WHEN :: Saturday August 10 | 8am
WHY:: Why have a normal run when you can run while eating donuts? Stans donut which originally started in Los Angeles back in 1963, opened their first Chicago shop in partnership with Rich Labriola in 2014 and they’ve opened several shops since then. Their delicious donuts are a favorite in the city, mine being the Nutella pocket. Runners at the Stans Donut 5k and Kids dash can enjoy donuts on the course and at the finish.

WHAT:: North Halsted Market Days

WHERE :: Boystown on Halsted Street from Belmont to Addison
WHEN :: Saturday August 10- Sunday Aug. 11 | 11am – 10pm
WHY :: Northalsted Market Days is the largest street festival in the Midwest and Chicago’s hottest summer celebration. The weekend-long festival features an all-day lineup of live music on stages, unique vendors, arts, crafts, food and drink, DJ’s and dancing, sponsor booths, and more. The live music performances are also quite a treat, with past instances of the festival featuring shows from Neon Trees, Karmin, Wilson Phillips, Olivia Newton-John, Belinda Carlisle, The Pointer Sisters and many others.

WHAT :: Jesus & Jollof

WHERE :: Vic Theatre | 3145 N. Sheffield Avenue, Chicago 
WHEN :: Saturday August 10
WHY:: Jesus and Jollof is the popular podcast from Insecure actress and comedienne Yvonne Orji and NYTimes Best selling award-winning writer and cultural critic Luvvie Ajayi, two proudly Nigerian women, exploring their experiences, relationships, aspirations, and everything in between. They shared the epic bachelorette getaway for luvvie in Anguilla on Instagram and now we get to witness some of their fun IRL. They will be sprinkling Chicago with their black girl magic. The name “Jesus and Jollof?” stems from the two things they cannot do without.
