The Bellevue To Take Over Former Tavern On Rush Space

The beloved Gold Coast restaurant Tavern on Rush served their last customers late October 2022 after a frosty breakdown between the Stefani Restaurant and their landlord brought their 24-year run to a close. Since then all eyes have been on the corner of Rush and Bellevue with whispers on what landlord’s Fred Barbara and James Banks had up their sleeve and now we know. They will debut ‘The Bellevue’ in the Spring 2023.

The Bellevue restaurant will take over the former Tavern on Rush space in Spring 2023. The two-floor space has been completely reimagined, creating an impressive new aesthetic with added functionality. On the first floor, an increased bar area provides more room for socializing and lounging. The revamped second floor now includes an additional bar, open kitchen and sweeping views of Rush Street, Mariano Park and the surrounding area from freshly installed nano doors. Plus, a 100-seat sidewalk café will sure to be one of the city’s essential outdoor dining spots.

The design of The Bellevue, which translates to ‘a beautiful view’ in French, embodies that idea from the inside out. To craft the interior, the team turned to one of the foremost hospitality interior design firms in the country, Knauer Incorporated. Taking inspiration from classic Chicago and American establishments, the reconceptualized space features a modern color palette accented with rich leathers, brass and velvet, plus a range of unique artwork, including black and white photos and custom murals.

The Bellevue’s menu features timeless and elegant cuisine, signature craft cocktails and a curated wine list, all as perfect for a Saturday night on the town as it is for a weekday lunch with friends.
