The 2016 Emmy Awards Nominations Are Here!

Get excited for this year’s 68th Emmy Awards as the nominations have been announced! Gilmore Girls actress Lauren Graham and Black-ish actor Anthony Anderson did the honors Thursday (7/14) morning.  Last September, HBO’s Game of Thrones broke records by taking home 12 statues and we are expecting another big win this September as they again dominated the Emmys with 23 nominations.  Ryan Murphy’s fall FX hit series The People v O.J. Simpson, critically acclaimed show Mr. Robot and Netflix original Master of None also scored nominations. The Emmy nominations also featured diversity on its list of nominated actors, actresses and shows with Black-ish, Masters of None, Luther, How To Get Away With Murder scoring noms, so hopefully there won’t be a #Emmysowhite trend. If you are wondering why Orange is the New Black  didn’t get any nominations as it has in previous years and past two wins by Uzo Aduba, it was only eligible for season 3. Other previous winners that were left off the nomination list this year were The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies on her final season, recent Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom and The Daily Show, where they’ve received Emmy nominations every year since 2001.
