EVENT: Chinatown Summer Fair

ABOUT: This iconic event is one of the most ethnically unique outdoor events in Chicago and the Midwest. Attracting more than 40,000 people from throughout the region, Chinatown Summer Fair is a true celebration of Far East beauty and culture including food, art and music.

EVENT: MCA Chicago and Pitchfork Talk Series with Mick Jenkins

ABOUT: The Museum of Contemporary Art and Pitchfork collaboratively present an ongoing conversation series called “In Sight Out” about new perspectives in music, art, and culture. The next talk in this series features the Alabama-born, Chicago-raised rapper Mick Jenkins speaking candidly about his artistic process and music today.

MORE INFORMATION: Jayson Jenkins, better known by his stage name Mick Jenkins, is a member of the music collective FREENATION. Jenkins’s mixtape “Trees and Truths,” released in the spring of 2013, quickly became a local favorite. A few months after its release, Jenkins collaborated with Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa on the summer hit “Crossroads.” Jenkins’ debut album, The Healing Component (THC) arrives later this year.

EVENT: Charles Tillman Celebrity Pro BOWLer

ABOUT:  Former Chicago bear and Peanut will recruit his friends, teammates and colleagues for an evening of great bowling, delicious food and festivities to support the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation. EVENT: Red Bull Reign Finals

ABOUT: The Chicago Finals for Red Bull Reign, returns for its third year to Seward Park. The winners from the tournaments six qualifying rounds are set to face off against each other in hopes of winning the ultimate street ball competition. The event is hosted by NBA’s Anthony Davis.

EVENT: Pitchfork Music Festival

ABOUT:  Celebrating 11 years in 2016, the internationally recognized Pitchfork Music Festival presents over 40 bands throughout the course of three days each summer in Chicago’s Union Park. The festival highlights the best in new and emerging music.

EVENT: Zoo Ball 2016: Penguins in Paradise

ABOUT:  The Women’s Board of Lincoln Park Zoo celebrates the return of the penguins. You won’t want to miss this night of romance and fun.

MORE INFORMATION: Zoo Ball is Lincoln Park Zoo’s largest fundraiser hosted by the Women’s Board of Lincoln Park Zoo. Since its inception in 1977, Zoo Ball has raised millions of dollars for a wide range of capital projects at the zoo and has annually drawn more than 1,000 civic and social leaders from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

EVENT: King Sunny Ade + Ugochi & A.S.E.

ABOUT:  King Sunny Ade is the undisputed king of juju music, the dance-inspiring hybrid of western pop and traditional African music with roots in the guitar tradition of Nigeria. Ade launched his own record label in 1974 and has released more than 100 of his own recordings in Nigeria. Born in Chicago to Nigerian parents, Ugochi is an Afro-soul singer, songwriter and poet who is known for her extremely versatile and creative music and performances. She will appear with The Afro Soul Ensemble (A.S.E.).
