Poverty, unfortunately, is all too often a commonality in most parts of the country especially in a major city like Chicago. Those who are afflicted by it often times lack resources to get out of it. LIFT Communities with 2 Chicago branches is working to help Chicagoans lift themselves out of poverty for good. Their mission is “to help community members achieve economic stability and well-being.”

On Thursday April 10, LIFT-Chicago’s LIFT LOCAL will celebrate the hard work and commitment of LIFT members, advocates, and partners throughout the year. This year, LIFT LOCAL will feature the upLIFTing Awards where we honor individuals who represent and embody the LIFT spirit and, like LIFT, work tirelessly to build the foundations that help lift people out of poverty for good.
The organization is also comitted to helping eliminate poverty through diversity with the full participation, inclusion, engagement and empowerment of individuals from different races, ethnicities, genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, national origins, socio-economic backgrounds, ages, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, ideologies, and other attributes that make each of us unique.
How do they make a difference, these first hand stories HERE shows just why they do it and who benefits from their work.

Their fundraising celebration Thursday April 10 has a host committee of some of Chicago’s main and next generation civic & philanthropic leaders such as Grovesnor Capitals Kurt Summners and wife Helen, Timothy and Elizabeth Dugan, Steven & Ellke Haggert, David & Alison Heyman.
