It may sound like a broken record but truly Chicago is AMAZING! We have some of the most philanthropic people in the nation(at least I hope to think so) and we have a new generation of influencers looking to make a difference where they can. In our household we were reinforced 2 adages “charity begins at home” and “do good unto others.” I try to live life like this on a daily basis and love to meet other people that embody this. Courtney White is someone that needs to be on your radar.
Courtney White, Founder Culinary Care
Courtney White is a Chicagoan(Wilmette native) who started a non-profit-Culinary Care-out of and event that happened in her life. Culinary Care is a non-profit dedicated to delivering free and balanced meals to people dealing with or taking care of those going through all stages of cancer in the Chicagoland area. The organization came about from a personal experience of Courtney and her family. Her father fought and unfortunately lost his battle with lung cancer when she was 17 years old but one of the comforting things during this difficult process was that neighbors, friends and families always had a meal prepared and waiting for them which took the stress away from . It seems simple but it is one of the things neglected while going through something as serious as cancer especially for those caring for loved ones battling it.
From that experience Courtney realized that there are probably others going through the same but without the resource of a good meal. Culinary Care’s mission is to deliver one less worry. Culinary Care has already began to partner with local restaurants to help carry out their mission. Their first partnership and delivery to the Ronald McDonald House(RMHC) was with Maggianos Resturant. As they continue to grow Culinary Care is partnering with other cancer organizations in the city to carry out their mission and help bring meals to these individuals and families.
Culinary Care has committed to delivering meals to families at Ronald McDonald House once a month. Early this month Rockit Bar & Grill donated an array of complete meals that Culinary Care volunteers served to the families.
The Culinary Care team continues to grow this philanthropy they will seek to partner with more restaurants and will need volunteers to help carry out their mission.
