We’ve shared with you places to have dinner and/or party to ring in 2014 HERE but we know that some of you are homebodies and prefer to stay in. This NYE does not have to consist of Christmas leftover or takeout. Put on your host(ess) cap and have a few people over. It doesn’t have to be over the top but it should be memorable-in a good way. We asked one of tinsletowns go to event planners Chad Hudson of Chad Hudson Events, who’s done everything from studio premieres for Million Dollar Baby, Twilight, Celebrity Beach Bowl to name a few, for some entertaining tips.

SOCIALIFECHICAGO: What are the 5 essentials for a host to throw a memorable event?
CHAD HUDSON:
· The perfect date/time/location
· The perfect entertainment/music
· The perfect atmosphere and decor
· The perfect food and libations
· The perfect guest list and wow factor
SLC: With NYE around the corner, what entertaining tips would you give someone looking to throw a gathering in the home?
CH: Less is more. Go with clean and classy versus overdone.
SLC: What are some event themes you are seeing will continue into 2014?
CH: Shabby-chic furniture seems to be making a comeback along with the return of the lounge. Farm-to-table food is still rising in popularity and social media will continue to play a huge role at events
SLC: What has been one of your most memorable moments of 2013?
CH: Producing the Major League Baseball All Star Gala on the USS Intrepid in New York City for 5000 guests stands out this year since it was our first time working with MLB. Also our first major political event, the Meridian Ball in Washington DC was exciting.

SLC: What do you hope for guests to take away from your events?
CH: I hope we always leave our guests with a sense of being entertained and ready to come back to our next event.
