Menswear Fall 2015 For The Chicago Man

The Menswear Fall 2015 fashion presentation in London, Paris and Milan, unveiled trends, textures and designs we can’t wait to see the fashionable Chicago men in.

Alexander Wang, Valentino, Rick Owens, Kris VanAssche, Givenchy, Dior Homme, Saint Laurent, MSGM, Brioni Sacai, Kenzo, Acne Studios , 3.1 Phillip Lim were some of the designers that showcased strong, cohesive collections this season.

Despite the controversies caused by Rick Owens’ “penis show” and A.P.C Jean Touitou’s “Last N****s in Paris” comment during a portion of his presentation, the fashion front featured a 1970’s rock-star theme that included fur trimmed topcoats, geometric prints and pin striped suits. Sneaker inspired oxfords at Prada and Louis Vuitton, coats outlined with red rouge at Alexander Wang, Givenchy and Loewe signaled some of trends to come for the season. The Chicago man, whether a financier or lawyer who favors a tailored suit look; the tech entrepreneur who leans towards Americana upscale casual, or the  streetwear king will find pieces from these collections they can invest in.

If your daily routine calls for a more dressed up, suit and tie look, the contour of fabrics from delicate wool and cashmere blends used in Paul Smith’s collection to the shearling topcoats and houndstooth patterns shown in Tom Ford’s collection will fit your needs. The Chicago man should invest in a grey tapered suit (wool or cotton blend, preferably one with a subtle pattern) for Fall 2015 coupled with a bold and sophisticated top coat.

Alexander Wang’s floral prints with a modern New York vibe, Hood by Air’s meticulous color-blocking and Acne Studio’s whimsical pieces are the perfect picks for the Chicago man into the streetwear/sportswear look. All three collections demonstrated their use of geometric shapes  from shirts and sweaters to overcoats.

What Band of Outsiders, A.P.C. and 3.1 Phillip Lim did for Fall 2015 collections is maintain a desirable edge with soft neutral colors and organic like fabrics. A.P.C created  a wearable collection that included camel hair overcoat, grey sweatpants, and A.P.C. designed Timberland, with such eloquent swagger. Band of Outsider’s took it to the tool shed and stuck to an all American vibe with cable knits, functional cargo pants, flannel jackets and a hardy denim jumpsuit. Philip Lim took inspiration from mountain climbing shown in his collection of strappy vest jackets and hiking boots suitable for a day in the wild or hanging out in West loop or Logan square.
