Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Is Coming To Chicago

In a matter of days, one of sailing’s most prestigious and competitive qualifying races will dock in Chicago making it the first time in its 165-year history, the America’s Cup World Series will take place in fresh water on Lake Michigan. The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series will take place June 10-12 at Navy Pier and residents are encouraged to come out and make a day of it.

With over two days worth of fun in store, Navy Pier, celebrating its centennial in 2016, will serve as event headquarters June 10 – 12, 2016, and include a ticketed viewing area, entertainment and VIP hospitality areas for fans to enjoy as the high-performance 45’ foiling catamarans race by at 40+ mph close to the shore. Though tickets for the Grand stand is sold out, you can still get weekend pass tickets for the Alvalle Race village starting at $59 for adults or general admission day pass. The docked ships along the lake are also offering tickets for guests.

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event organizers announced that Friday, June 10, will be “Conquer Cancer Day” at Navy Pier with portion of all Friday, single-day tickets, going directly to the Conquer Cancer Foundation.

Six teams will be competing including USA, Sweden, Great Britain, Japan, France, and New Zealand and the leader board so far looks like this:
#1 Emirates Team New Zealand  (244 points)
#2 Oracle Team USA (236 points)
#3 Land Rover Bar (227 points)

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Chicago is a qualifying event for the 2017 America’s Cup which will kick off May 7, 2017 in Bermuda.
