Alan Menken, the Oscar, Tony, and Grammy winning composer of such great scores like “The Little Mermaid,” “Pocahontas,” “Hercules,” “Aladdin,” “Little Shop of Horrors” “The Lion King” and more, who was in Chicago stopped by the Chicago production of “Little Shop of Horrors” at Mercury Theatre to meet with the cast and take photos. Menken, composer creator behind our favorite songs “Under the Sea” (The Little Mermaid ), “Somewhere That’s Green” (Little Shop of Horrors ), “A Whole New World” (Aladdin ), and “Be Our Guest” (Beauty and the Beast ) was in Chicago March 30 for his one-man show A Whole New World of Alan Menken at the Auditorium Theatre. To add the proverbial cherry to the ice-cream of his visit, he played an impromptu set of classic Disney hits, and took photos with the cast and crew!
