Kelly Killoren Bensimon wants to make you HOT, yes YOU! On Thursday(May 9) she held a book signing of her new book “I can make you Hot” at Whiskey (owned by Rande Gerber’s Gerber Group). Before greeting guests and signing books, she spoke with me briefly about the book “I can Make You Hot” and her philanthropic efforts. This book is actually the fourth book she’s written having penned three books previously. You might not know this but portion of proceeds from sales of “I can make you Hot” will benefit generositywater.org.
She got involved with the GenerosityWater 2 years ago because of their mission and their grassroots effort to bring clean wells to impoverished areas in different parts of the world. She’s always been involved with different charities over the years. She recently took a trip with her 14 year old daughter to Haiti to show her what it is to be philanthropic and being able to make an important impact.
She is the celeb ambassador for Food Bank NYC, involved with the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art,where proceeds from 2 of her previous books went to.
Although Ms. Killoren Bensimon is a cast member on Bravo TV’S New York housewives franchise, providing a huge platform that has helped raised her name recognition all over the world , what most don’t realize is she’s had a full fledged career prior to her being on the show. She started modeling at 15 here in Chicago, worked with Victor Skrebneski, Editor at Large for Niche’s Gotham & Hampton Magazine as well as founding editor of Elle Accessories Magazine. When she worked “behind the scene” it was always about the content being created.
” I Can Make You Hot” is not your typical diet book. The book encourages you to shop your local market. During Summers in L ake Geneva, WI they would buy produce from the markets and farms. She would like to see more Americans make better food choices and to take good care of themselves and eat in moderation.
Originally from Rockford IL, when I asked what her favorite places so hang out in Chicago were, she immediately said Carson’s. It’s her all time favorite restaurant ” I love their ribs so much;” every time she finished a modeling shoot her parents would take her to Carson’s as a treat. She couldn’t wait to try one of her really good friends Guiliana Rancic’s restaurant RPM. I wasn’t too familiar with her or the show prior to the interview but she exuded warmth and was gracious and even offered some writing tips.
her hair was done at Charles Ifergan
