Climate Exec Orders. Flanked by a group of all men coal industry workers, with zero diversity in the mix, President Trump sitting at the tiny table, signed executive orders rolling back most of the national climate change policies set by former president Obama yesterday afternoon. According to a report, the order will curb the enforcement of a number of climate regulations, to prioritize American jobs above addressing climate change; rescind the moratorium on coal mining on US federal lands and initiate a review of the Clean Power Plan initiative. • The process to begin Brexit and end Britain’s almost 44 year membership in the European Union, triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, has begun with Prime Minister Theresa May’s formal filing. May notified EU Council President Donald Tusk in a letter that the UK is quitting the bloc it joined in 1973. The separation will go into effect in late March 2019.
• Westinghouse Electric Company, now a part of Toshiba Corp. of Japan, but was once a dominant force in providing nuclear products and electricity, is filing for bankruptcy protection in the US. According to Bloomberg, the move marks the end of a troubled era, which began in 1999, when the company ditched its other businesses to focus on nuclear reactors.
• The Bucktown area of Chicago has seen as many as 6 burglaries in the past week with another case that took place Monday night. Three burglars broke into a lingerie shop stealing underwear and they were only able to make out with $150 from the register. Meanwhile Chicago is continuing its stance as a sanctuary city despite Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ threats to block funding for so-called “sanctuary cities,” with the introduction of a measure Wednesday that will offer Chicago’s undocumented immigrants, the homeless and those with a criminal record a municipal identification card, reports DNAinfo.

• Bill O’Reilly tried to throw some shade at Rep. Maxine Waters when he said “I didn’t hear a word she said. I was looking at the James Brown wig” during a segment on Fox & Friends. He later apologized but Rep Waters, the resident “don’t come for me unless I sent for you,” responded in a segment that aired on MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes by saying “I am a strong black woman and I cannot be intimidated” while blasting O’Reilly and former Fox News head Roger Ailes.
