Off The Rails! They say when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time and that might be the case for our current president. Many of you are probably aware of the platform of hate, violence and misogyny that populated his presidential campaign. Aware that a majority of his base are alt-right nationalists that consists of Neo Nazi’s, white supremacists, KKK. On Saturday, when he issued the statement blaming “many sides” for what went down in Charlottesville, he received swift backlash even from his own party. FastForward to Monday, he gave the address many had initially expected and then Tuesday afternoon, he went off the rails but if we are being honest, that was President Trump showing his true side. The man that campaigned that he will bring together the country has done a grand job of standing up for those that want to supress minorities and keep white priviledge alive. By calling those Unite the right marchers fine people, then receiving praise from KKK leader David Duke, tells you what “side” he’s really on. Though according to #45, he is neither racist nor sympathizes with those types of people. It’s just that the “alt left,” you know the people that condemn racism and such are also to be blamed. Where does it end? Six CEO’s have now resigned from his business councils, though many still remain including Chicago HQed Boeing’s CEO Dennis Muilenburg. Should the CEO of a company large or small, in any way act in this manner, they will be launched IMMEDIATELY but alas, this is not the case for the highest power in the country. • Lest we get swept up in the Charlottesville web, there’s a few other pressing matter of concern going on. One being NAFTA. Today, negotiators from Canada, Mexico, and the US will kick off trade talks. All through #45 campaign and presidency he has expressed much disdain for the North American Free Trade Agreement. The negotiations are also a major test for the Trump administration, which has failed so far to win a legislative victory at home. Sierra Leone deadly mudslide has now claimed 300 dead and at least 600 people are still missing.
• McDonalds’ move into West Loop is coming along and the fast food giant is ready to break ground on their vendor village 12-story building at Lake-Carpenter. According to Curbed, the 200,000-square-foot structure will accommodate roughly 1,000 employees from a number of secondary companies expected to follow the fast food giant downtown in 2018.
• After naming Chicago the Restaurant city of the year, Bon Appétit has listed 2 Chicago restaurants as America’s Best Restaurant 2017. Elske and Giant were named to the list.
ENTERTAINMENT
• Daniel Craig is back as 007 something he confirmed Tuesday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, after being “quite cagey about it” with other reporters earlier that day. Craig made his debut as James Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale.
• Monday evening Kim Kardashian took to her social media to tout her upcoming contour kit launch. She tried swatching the different shades, but was shaded about her technique including from Jeffree Starr which opened pandoras box and his racist tendency past. Kim K apparently naive to it urged her followers to give him a break, she later went on to apologize citing her naiveté of the situation. Meanwhile Paris Hilton sat down with Marie Claire where she talks about her feminist ideals, how her sex tape ruined her Princess Diana ambitions, also saw her defending allegations of sexual assault that women have brought against Donald Trump to light saying “I think that they are just trying to get attention and get fame.”
