A list of names were posted online for only a day on the Hyde Park List Tumblr page naming a dozen straight and gay undergraduate University of Chicago students of “gender-based violence” reports DNAinfo. It may be the work of another student who did not feel the university properly handled their sexual assault complaint. [DNAINFO CHICAGO]
• Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to decriminalize marijuana possession statewide. According to the Chicago Tribune, in 2012 Chicago passed a law that allowed police to issue tickets of $250 to $500 for someone caught with 15 grams or less of pot (the equivalent of about 25 cigarette-sized joints). I’ll take 2 pork tacos with a side of meth please. Customers in Denver armed with code phrases such as “six pack” or “yellow cups” could order methamphetamine with their meal from a Denver based taco truck. “After conducting five wiretaps over five weeks, fifty-five pounds of meth was taken off the streets.” Washington Post reports, Juan Carlos Gonzalez, 37 was the alleged leader of the Gonzalez drug trafficking organization, who ran the operation out of his BMW. WORLD NEWS

Air and missle strikes by the United States and it’s Arab allies were launched targeting dozens of Islamic State fighters and members of a separate al Qaeda-linked group. At least 20 Islamic State fighters were killed in strikes that hit at least 50 targets in Raqqa and Deir al-Zor provinces in Syria’s east. The Islamic State did vow revenge for the attacks. President Obama will be headed to “New York for the U.N. General Assembly where he will try to rally more nations behind his drive to aggressively take on Islamic State.” [REUTERS]

SPORTS

DA BEARS!! The Chicago Bears defeated the NY Jets 27-19 at MetLife Stadium Monday night. This is the second win on the road for the bears who beat the 49ers. This is the second loss in a row for the Jets who lost last week to Green Bay. The Bears are currently 2-1 tied in 1st place of NFC North with the Detroit Lions.
“The Bears won with defense, limiting the NFL’s top rushing offense to 114 yards, and forcing Jets kicker Nick Folk to boot four field goals. If the unit continues to improve throughout the season, the Bears could be poised for a playoff run, especially with a dynamic offense full of playmakers.” Green Bay Packers are up next on Sunday.
