ALTICE
• Telecom entrepreneur Patrick Drahi’s Altice will buy Cablevision for about $10 billion to become the #4 cable operator, in its quest to become one of the largest telecom companies, in the US market. You’ll remember the name because for a short time, Altice was thought to be in negotiations to buy Time Warner Inc, but Charter comm beat them to it. Cablevision is the fifth largest cable provider and ninth largest television provider in the United States, with most customers residing in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and parts of Pennsylvania. The deal should close by first half of 2016. [WSJ]
GOP DEBATE
• Candidate Carly Fiorina stood out from the crowd shutting down Donald Trump and his sexist remarks. The issue of regulating marijuana came up and candidate Jeb Bush admitted to his past puff puff pass days. Most of the candidates went in on the Donald but the real news here was the hottie mctoddy sitting behind moderator Jake Tapper during the debate and curious thirsty twitter made it a hot topic. The guy is Greg Caruso son of millionaire developer Rick Caruso, a GOP backer.

• Harper’s Bazaar magazine celebrated their fashion Icons issue which featured the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Willow Smith, Katy Perry, with a party last night at the Plaza Hotel NYC. Attendees included fashion model besties Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid, Kate Upton, photographer Jean-Paul Goude with performance from Katy Perry. The afterparty was held at Le Bain. [DAILY MAIL]
BURKINA FASO
• A military coup has been successful in taking power from the former French colony, West African nation and interim president Michel Kafando and Prime Minister Isaac Zida, who were to assume their roles after the Oct. 11 elections to return the country to democracy, have been arrested. Burkina Faso is Africa’s fourth biggest gold producer. [BLOOMBERG]

• The 14-year-old who was handcuffed and arrested after a teacher and principal thought a clock he made was a bomb, has received invitation to the White house and Facebook and the hashtag #IStandwithAhmed was trending on twitter yesterday. Ahmed addressed reporters during a news conference stating he might switch schools.
