• The second ebola infected nurse, Amber Jay Vinson, that treated Thomas Duncan, had a 99.5 fever and was allowed to fly. After calling the CDC who did not tell her not to fly, she took the flight from Cleveland to Dallas on Monday, the day before she was diagnosed with Ebola. The CDC’s temperature threshold is 100.4F (38C). She has now been transferred to the isolation unit at Emory University Hospital. Should CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden step down? [REUTERS]

• Blizzards in Nepal’s Annapurna region killed at least 20 people on Wednesday reports Time. The disaster took place during Nepal’s peak trekking season. Nine locals, three Polish nationals, three Israelis and one Vietnamese were killed in the region’s Mustang district. [TIME]
SPORTS
• The Kansas City Royals are headed to the World Series after beating the Orioles to win the American League Championship series. This is their first WS appearance since 1985. • North Chicago’s AbbVie’s board recommended that shareholders vote against $52 billion (32.5 billion) takeover of the maker of rare-disease treatments, citing a change in tax rules that would undermine the deal’s rationale. “If the board recommends that shareholders don’t vote for the deal, there’s no way it can be resurrected.” [BLOOMBERG]
