• Breaking: The longest reigning monarch (70 years), Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej who was seen as a benign father figure that remained above politics, has died. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while his father Prince Mahidol Adulyadej studied at Harvard, in 1927.
• $120,000 worth of crystal meth (about 13 grams) was seized in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood last week and Richard Conner, 31, of 900 block of West Agatite, was charged with possession of 100-400 grams of meth, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after the raid, reports DNAinfo.
• Boston police officers were attending to a domestic dispute call about a person with a gun Wednesday night when they came under fire. One officer was shot multiple times while the other officer was shot “one or two times” but both officers had extremely critical injuries. The gunman, who was reportedly armed with an assault rifle and a ballistic vest, is dead.

• Bob Dylan was named the winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition and a great poet in the English speaking tradition.” Dylan becomes the first American to win since novelist Toni Morrison received the prize in 1993 and the first songwriter to win it.
• Guiness book record holder as the world’s tallet ballet dancer, Joffrey’s Fabrice Calmels has been signed to IMG Models, a division of WME-IMG. Calmels, who is French and appeared in the Versace Bruce Weber ads photographed in Chicago, has been lead dancer with the Joffrey Ballet for many years. He joins another Chicago area native, Nico Tortorella, on IMGs Men’s Board.

• Kering brand, Christopher Kane, has a new CEO in Nikolas Talonpoika, following the exit of Sarah Cook. Talonpoika, was the strategic marketing and media director of Kering and has been with the company for eight years. In other fashion announcement news, former One Direction member turned solo star Zayn Malik bka Zayn, is collaborating with Versace’s Versus for a capsule collection for men and women, set to become available May 2017.
