• Late Thursday night, a gunman killed 9 people including state senator Reverend Clementa Pinckney, who were attending bible study at an historic African-American AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina and now a description of the assailant has been released in what’s been described as a hate crime. He reportedly spared one woman’s life so she could tell the world of what happened; A 5-year-old, survivor was told to play dead by her grandmother. The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other agencies have joined in the investigation “The shooter, a 21-year-old white man with sandy blond hair, sat with churchgoers inside Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church for about an hour on Wednesday before opening fire” [REUTERS]
WORLD NEWS
• Though faces of women have graced other nation’s currencies and coin currency in the U.S, none has been featured on their paper currency since Martha Washington in the late 19th century until now. The Treasury Department announced that a woman’s face will appear on an American $10 bill, replacing the main image of its founder, Alexander Hamilton but the identity of the female will be announced later this year. The currency will be unveiled in 2020, the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. [WSJ]

• With all this Blackhawks talk, Chicago’s other sports team have played for attention and beating the Cleveland Indians 17-0 grabs attention, which is what the Cubs did last night at Progressive Field. Designer Cynthia Rowley threw out the first pitch at the Cubs home game Tuesday. [CLEVELAND]

• Warren Buffet’s, Berkshire Hathaway Inc now owns 52.5% of Heinz after exercising a 2013 warrant to purchase about 46.2 million Heinz shares for nearly $462,000 making that a penny a share. You will remember Heinz which was made a private company by Berkshire and 3G Capital in 2013 is merging with Kraft Foods. Speaking of money, former Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers junior partner Ellen Pao will pay her former employer $276,000 instead of the $973,000 it sought as ruled by California Superior Court Judge Harold Kahn. Kleiner Perkins had offered Pao, now interim CEO of Reddit, nearly $1 million to settle before her case went to trial. [BLOOMBERG]
ENTERTAINMENT
• Reports (rumors) are swirling that Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have called off their engagement and have split. They’ve been inseparable with Penn doting over Theron’s son but apparently they split after Cannes Film Feestival and have not been seen together since. Representatives for both partis have yet to confirm(or deny) the reports. Speaking of breakups, seems Jen Garner and Ben Affleck are trying to save their marriage with counseling. [PAGE SIX]

• The former creative director for Mulberry Emma Hill in collaboration with former Mulberry brand director Georgia Fendley, will launch her own line of accessories calling it Hill & Friends. They will present during London Fashion Week in September. [VOGUE UK]
