On a day where marijuana lovers celebrate, Cook County’s State Attorney Anita Alvarez will “announce reforms to low-level drug offenses, including dismissal of all future misdemeanor marijuana cases.” The press conference will also address how the office prosecutes small amounts of recreational drugs including Ecstasy, cocaine and heroin. • A double homicide-suicide in a motel in central Pennsylvania has left three people dead. 35-year-old Donnell Graham shot his wife, 33-year-old Shaquana Graham and another man, 25-year-old Kristopher Pittman before shooting himself in the head. [SF CHRONICLE]

The European Union’s foreign ministers have assembled in Luxembourg, in an emergency session following the weekend’s deadliest crisis involving migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean to Europe. There may have been 950 about the vessel according to a Bangladeshi survivor; The vessel sank when passengers rushed to one side to attract attention from a passing merchant ship. “Unless something is done about Libya, these scenes will be repeating themselves.” [REUTERS]

Chicago wins. Both the Bulls and Hawks who are in first rounds of playoffs won their matchups last night. Although there was controversy that coach Q started Goalie Scott Darling instead of Corey Crawford, the Hawks defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2. Carrie Underwood’s husband Mike Fisher of the Predators, did not play last night due to injury.
The Bulls’ defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 103-91 with Derrick Rose playing in his 1st post season game in almost three years to score 23 points. [ESPN]
BUSINESS
Officials from the Department of Justice will meet with representative from Comcast and Time Warner “to discuss potential remedies in hopes of keeping their $45.2 billion merger on track.” The Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are concerned the merger would give unfair competitive leverage against TV channel owners and new market entrants that offer video programming online. The Academy of Country Music’s 50th annual Awards took place last night and some of Country music’s favorite stars took home awards including Miranda Lambert who took home 3 awards, Luke Bryan who co-hosted with Blake Shelton, won Entertainer of The Year. Taylor Swift’s mother delivered an emotional speech before presenting her with Milestone Award. Kelly Clarkson presented the 50th Anniversary Milestone Award to Reba McEntire.
