• NY Times reports that “Ecuador is planning to create the world’s first government-issued digital currency.” The virtual currency will start circulating in December is yet to be named but will NOT be like bit coin. It will eb backed by liquid assets and will complement paper money. It’s interesting that the unnamed new currency was approved, and stateless crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin was banned by Ecuador’s National Assembly last month. [NY TIMES]

• NFL Commisioner Roger Godell was after all listening. They announced a domestic violence policy which would call for six-game suspension for a first domestic violence offense and potential lifetime ban on the second offense. • Alibaba, ahead of it’s US IPO, has earned more than Amazon and Ebay combined in the last quarter. Net income at Hangzhou-based Alibaba nearly tripled to $1.99 billion. “Alibaba issued stock-based compensation worth $59 a share, which indicates a market value of $138 billion, based on 2.34 billion shares outstanding as of June 30, according to the Aug. 27 filing. The share count includes preferred and unvested restricted shares…Alibaba said the number of customers accessing sites through smartphones, a key plank of its growth strategy, increased sharply” [BLOOMBERG]

• Mumbai based new on the scene fashion label, Miuniku, who won the special jury award at the inaugural LVMH Young Fashion Designer will debut their spring-summer 2015 collection during Paris Fashion Week. The label is founded by sisters Tina and Nikita Sutradhar and their collection will consist of 20-looks. Their fall collections can currently be found at Opening Ceremony in New York and Los Angeles, and Cement in Japan. This is def a hot label to get your hands on before they reach masses. [WWD]
