• The 2018 Winter Olympics highlights: Mirai Nagasu became the first U.S. woman to land a triple axel in Olympic competition. Adam Rippon slayed his performance as well, which helped team USA win the bronze medal. 17 year old Red Gerard won USA’s first gold at the Olympics with the snowboarding sensation dropping an f-bomb on TV. 
 
• In Chicago news: A new Sun-Times report states that as of last year, dozens of juveniles that were charged for brazen carjackings across Chicago, most were not detained longer than 24 hours. This as mayor Emanuel announces a new legislation on Sunday, during a press conference, aimed at changing an Illinois law to crack down on a recent surge of carjackings. Last year, there were about 1,000 carjackings in Chicago.

• Over The Weekend: A 30th birthday celebration turned to tragedy when a sightseeing tour of the Grand Canyon crashed killing three people while three survived. Idris Elba, who once said in an interview he won’t get married again, proposed to his 29-year-old girlfriend. Watch the video of the proposal. President Trump tweeted, without mentioning names his issue with allegations being made against people without due process. You’ll remember that his staff secretary Rob Porter who was dating WH Comms. Dir Hope Hicks quit last week amidst claims of domestic abuse. A former medical director for insurance giant Aetna admitted, admitted under oath, he never looked at patients’ records when deciding whether to approve or deny care. Now the California insurance commissioner has launched an investigation into the claims. A Russian plane crashed minutes after takeoff and no survivors have been reported. 

ENTERTAINMENT

• The Writers Guild Awards took place Sunday and was held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York, hosted by comedian Patton Oswalt and Amber Ruffin. Some of the evenings winners were, Get Out won for Original Screenplay. Hulu’s The The Handmaid’s Tale, won for Drama Series and New Series. VeepSaturday Night Live39th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver were also winners.
•  New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and the Weinstein company. The civil rights lawsuit, filed Sunday, in the New York County Supreme Court alleges extensive violations of New York’s civil rights, human rights and business laws. According to documents reported on TMZ, Schneiderman says Harvey (Weinstein) persistently sexually harassed female employees at TWC by personally creating a hostile work environment and demanding quid pro quo sexual favors for continued employment or career advancement. Weinstein’s lawyer Ben Brafman though thinks a “fair investigation” by New York’s attorney general will show that many of the allegations against Weinstein are “without merit.”   

 

FASHION

• NYFW F/W ’18 is still going strong in New York. Over the weekend, Christian Siriano celebrated 10 years with an inclusive fashion show. Prabal Gurung, one of the few designers that’s taken and socially conscious stance, made a #Metoo supporting statement in the show’s finale walk. Alexander Wang is trying to bring back the banana hair clip. Cardi B, sandwiched between Anna Wintour and Baz Lurhmann at the Wang show, was also a NYFW highlight Phillip Plein had celeb offsprings walk the runway that had snow, UFO ship and Migos. Victoria Beckham took her last bow presenting in New York.
