Eight people are dead, over a dozen injured, one person is in custody and authorities are trying to figure out exactly what was behind an Uzbek man’s rampage in a tourist heavy area in Manhattan. Of the eight people that died when the man rammed a truck unto a bicycle path at Houston Street, five of them were best friends from Argentina visiting in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their grade school graduation. Notes and images showing his devotion to ISIS were found in the truck. • Day one of the Obama Foundation Summit included surprise visits from former First Lady Michelle Obama and Prince Harry to Hyde Park Academy in Chicago. The goal of the summit is to share ideas to create lasting change with the foundation aiming to inspire a new generation of leaders. President Obama, speaking at Tuesday’s opening session, said “Our goal is not to present some fixed theory of how change happens, this is a big brainstorming session.” Prince Harry during an evening discussion on philanthropy said “We have to listen to the younger generation because they are the cure of some of the world’s biggest problems.” The summit concludes today with Mrs. Obama speaking at 11:45am and former president Obama closing the summit at 5 p.m. before the concert at Wintrust Arena.
• Illinois’ richest man has given the University of Chicago it’s second-largest financial donation in school history. Citadel Founder and CEO, billionaire Ken Griffin is donating $125 million to the University of Chicago’s Department of Economics. The school’s economics department will now be known as the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics.
• The Utah nurse that was arrested for refusing to let a police officer draw blood from an unconscious patient has settled with Salt Lake City and the university that runs the hospital for $500,000. The settlement comes two months after the viral video that surfaced of Nurse Alex Wubbels being handcuffed by detective Jeff Payne.

• In the post Harvey Weinstein scandal days, there are now more sexual harassment allegations against some hollywood and entertainment figures. Chicago native Jeremy Piven, star of the new CBS drama series Wisdom of the Crowd, has had sexual assault allegations leveled against him by TV personality/actress Ariane Bellamar and CBS announced it is looking into the matter. NPR’s senior VP of news Michael Oreskes, on leave after fielding accusations that he sexually harassed two women seeking career opportunities nearly two decades ago, when he worked at The New York Times. Andy Dick has been fired from the horror comedy ‘Vampire Dad’ due to “multiple, flagrant acts of improper conduct and inappropriate contact with several cast and crew members.”
FASHION
• Under Armor’s not having a great year and things are not looking up anytime soon. The company announced sales are down for the first time since 2005. The company once set to challenge Nike, said it expects its financial struggles to continue and lowered its forecast for the rest of the year. Under Armour also announced it’s President of Sport Fashion Ben Pruess will exit the company and Tim Coppens’ spring collection will be his last for the sportswear company.
