The Gold Coast Neighbors Association celebrated the 30th anniversary of their annual summer event- Evening on Astor- this past Wednesday(9/5). The event sponsored by REMAX Premier Properties had families and friends gathered along Astor St for food, fun, face painting and games for the kids and wine for the adults. Guests who purchased tables decorated it to the nines. There were several elaborate tables that evening.

Awards were given out culminating with Andrea Schwartz winning the best festive table. Police Superintendent Gary McCarthy was on hand addressing guests and also accepting the Award of Excellence presented by GCNA President Verne Broeder. Supt. McCarthy gladly accepted the award on behalf of all the men and women on the Chicago Police force and all their hard work during the NATO Summit. He also introduced the new Near North District police chief Billy Dunn. Alderman Robert Fioretti was also in attendance and addressed guests too. Some of the familiar faces I spotted there were Jack and Naomi Reese, Demeko Taylor, Bradley Dineen, Chuck and Candice Jordan, Trevian Kuti, Andrea Schwartz and Dr. Steven Stryker and many more. It was indeed a fun time there was so much food, wine and good weekday fun. Some of the ladies were wondering if Supt. McCarthy is single, and unfortunately I am not sure.
